The blaze broke out about 11pm on Monday at the Walgett Community College Primary School hall and Birraleegal Goondi Preschool on Warrena Street, Walgett.
Fire and Rescue NSW was able to put out the fires, but not before the buildings were razed.
Also lost in the blaze were school library resources that had been in storage, gymnastics mats, sports equipment and two commercial ride-on lawnmowers.
The Walgett Community College Primary School hall and Birraleegal Goondi Preschool were completely destroyed.
The ministers for education and regional NSW said in a joint statement the government is committed to rebuilding.
"We extend our thanks to firefighters from NSW Fire and Rescue and NSW Police who arrived at the school late last night and remained on the scene through to the morning," the statement said.
"We want to ensure learning can continue and we will support Walgett Public School and preschool to reopen under temporary operating plans as soon as possible."
A police investigation into the blaze is under way.
