There were 150 competitors from across Australia, including Queensland, Canberra and Sydney and the Dubbo students left the competition with many first placings in the arts of Koshiki, Karate, Kata, Jiu-Jitsu, Point fighting, Weaponry and team events.
Head instructor Hanshi Ian Pollet continues to be impressed by his students.
“It was a fantastic atmosphere, and the students at Pollet’s Martial Arts Centre in Dubbo should be extremely proud of their efforts in this very high standard of competition,” he said.
“The Dubbo Club is increasing in numbers every day, and producing some very fine Martial Artists on the Australian and World Tournament Circuits.
“We are just so fortunate to have so much talent within our facilities and they seem to keep on getting better.
The star of the show was Dubbo talent Angel Towney, who fought her way into the Grand Championship in traditional kata, and synchronised kata with bunkai and walked away with $350 in prize money as well as winning her Black Belt Divisions in Jiu-Jitsu, Koshiki and Point Fighting
“She has just excelled so much,” Pollet said.
“She came to our dojo on an Aboriginal scholarship and has improved out of sight, her effort was one of the good stories on the day especially for the girls.”
Towney is now preparing for a big Muay Thai and Kickboxing Show at Sydney Olympic Park this Friday which will be aired on FOX Sports.
Another of Pollet’s Dubbo Instructors Cory Schumacher is preparing for his fight in the K1 Championships in Singapore in November.
